Alison's Garden
Alison's garden includes a scent garden, a cut flower bed, and lots of berries, including blueberries, raspberries, huckleberries and strawberries.
The "back 40 orchard" (40 feet, that is) has a rampant kiwi vine, a raised veggie bed and fruit trees that have been intentionally pruned to keep them small and shrub-like. At this size, it's easier to harvest the fruit, more trees will fit in a small space and you don't get overwhelmed with more fruit than you can handle.
She uses no pesticides or herbicides, relying instead on beneficial insects and pollinators attracted by the ornamentals she has planted. The front and side gardens are no-water beds.
