Fruits, veggies, and  bee- and hummingbird-attracting flowers in gardens that start in the front yard, fill a parking strip along the driveway and continue in back, where the chickens and pond are.  Although less than a year old, these are robust and productive gardens.  A wire-protected bed of greens grows inside the chicken run, chicken-manure composts under the henhouse, and a living roof is planned for the coop roof.  The pond is home to fish and aquatic plants. 

Drip irrigation is in place, and rain catchment and greywater system are in the works.
